ROSA Update - July 23,2001
As you know, ROSA is a bi-partisan, issues-oriented organization interested in electing individuals who share our view about the importance of open space preservation in our community.
There are three incumbent Selectmen - Steve Zemo, Peter Yanity, and Barbara Manners - who have played a critical role in our efforts to save the Bennett's Pond property during the last two years. Without their leadership and early support of our efforts, last week's approval by the Board of Finance could not have happened.
On Tuesday night, July 24, both major parties in Ridgefield will hold their caucuses:
Republicans - East Ridge Middle School auditorium, 7:30 p.m.
Democrats - Town Hall lower level meeting room, 8:00 p.m.
The effort to save Bennett's Pond, the remainder of McKeon's Farm, and other important open space land in Ridgefield is far from over. We strongly believe that we need these three dedicated public servants to continue on the Board of Selectmen.
Therefore, we are requesting that all ROSA supporters who are registered members of either party to attend their party's Tuesday night caucus and support Steve, Peter and Barbara for their respective party's slate for Board of Selectmen.
If you are unsure of your party affiliation, please call the Registrar of Voters at town hall at 431-2771. If you are an unaffiliated voter, you cannot participate in either caucus.
This fall, the ROSA Elections Committee will also be making endorsements in contested races for the Board of Finance, Planning and Zoning Commission, and Zoning Board of Appeals - the elected positions which are relevant to our issues. However, for the caucuses we are not making any recommendations on these positions, pending our election season interview process.
We do hope all ROSA supporters, Republicans and Democrats alike, will attend the caucuses on Tuesday night to support Steve, Peter and Barbara.
