ROSA Update - July 6,2001
The Board of Selectmen will vote on a resolution to acquire the Bennett's Pond property by negotiated purchase or eminent domain at their next meeting - Wednesday, July 11. The meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. and will be held at Town Hall lower level meeting room. This vote, if approved by the majority, will send the resolution to the Board of Finance. Board of Finance approval is necessary to allow a binding referendum to take place!
The Board of Finance will consider the Selectmen's resolution at their next meeting, currently scheduled for Wednesday, July 18, at 8:00 p.m. at the Town Hall lower level meeting room (time and location subject to change - we'll notify you of any changes). Based upon their comments in recent Press articles, there is a chance that they will again deny us the right to vote on this all-important decision. This, despite the 54% approval received on the May 15 advisory question, and the 2,800 signatures (17% of the electorate!) on our petitions we submitted in January. This is where you come in -
- Please plan to attend both of these meetings if possible - especially the Board of Finance meeting on the 18th.
- Please write a letter to the editor in support of bringing this decision to a referendum vote. Next week's Press is the LAST edition before the Board of Finance meets, so it is important that you get a letter in by Monday. Letters should be emailed to:
