ROSA Update - May 18,2001
<-Previous Next

The process of acquiring the Bennett's Pond property by negotiated purchase or eminent domain will now go forward based upon the majority vote in the May 15 referendum. Once an updated appraisal is obtained, the question and related expenditures will go before the Board of Finance. A public hearing and town meeting will be held, and the date for the binding referendum set.

Eureka PR Campaign & other opponents

We were badly outnumbered in letters to the editor the week before the Referendum. While we believe that many of these letters were orchestrated by one individual, they likely had some impact on the vote. Therefore it is very important that ROSA supporters commence an ongoing letter-writing campaign to the Press during the coming weeks. Eureka's PR campaign, including their misinformation on many issues, also did us some harm.

To assist us in countering Eureka and other opponents, we ask that you please write letters to the editor of both the Ridgefield Press and the Danbury News-Times. If you need some ideas for letter topics, read the Ridgefield Press 5/17 Edition - The interview with Mr. Goldberg by Kathy Powers provides plenty of opportunity for rebuttal. The negative letters to the editor from the previous week should also be answered.

Eureka development application - Public Hearing

Concurrent with our efforts to acquire the property, Eureka's latest development application (10-lot subdivision and wetlands application) is in process. A public hearing on this application will be held by the Ridgefield Planning & Zoning Commission and Inland Wetlands Board on TUESDAY MAY 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall Annex (66 Prospect St). ROSA is organizing opposition to this application, and we need our supporters to be in attendance for these very important hearings. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend on May 29th!

Thank you for your continued support.
