ROSA Update - May 11,2001
<-Previous Next

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

As you know, we had a great turnout for the May 7 town meeting, and consequently both Bennett's Pond advisory questions will be on the Tuesday, May 15 referendum ballot.

We need to be sure that all our supporters get out to vote on Tuesday. Therefore we will be distributing flyers at various locations in town starting tomorrow morning through Monday, and at the polling places on Tuesday. We need your help! If you haven't already volunteered some time, please call Jenny Bocchino at 438-5308 or me at 431-3796 and leave
a message with your phone number, what dates and times you are available, and what you are willing to do (phone calls, flyers or both). You can, of course, also do this via email.

On Monday night (May 14) from 7 to 9 we plan to make phone calls from one location, and we'll need about 15 people for this effort. If you can make it Monday night please let us know. If not, but you are still willing to make calls, let us know and we'll get you a list of names and phone numbers. Remember, this is not cold-calling: our database consists only of people who signed our petitions, or in some way indicated support for ROSA. We have nearly 2,000 phone calls to make, so please help!

This week's Press was a mixed blessing: there was good coverage of the Town Meeting, and an outstanding editorial in support of voting yes on Bennett's Pond. Unfortunately there were many more negative letters to the editor than positive ones. Eureka has continued its ad campaign, and Selectman Joseph Heyman has added his voice to Eureka's in promoting the so-called Compromise Plan. Using misinformation, distortion and scare tactics, Mr. Heyman seems to have declared war on ROSA - a tactic he also used (unsuccessfully) against the school referendum last Fall.

The only way to answer Mr. Heyman and Eureka is at the voting booth - so please help us to get our supporters out on Tuesday to vote YES on both Bennett's Pond advisory questions!

We must send a message to our elected officials that the preservation of Bennett's Pond is critical to Ridgefield's future - please volunteer to
help.

Thank you-
Ellen Burns
