ROSA's immediate goal is the preservation of the 680-acre property known as "Bennetts Ponds". The land, which is the only remaining significant undeveloped property in Ridgefield, Connecticut, is now threatened by a proposed mixed-use development including condominiums, single-family homes, a hotel/conference center, office buildings, and an 18-hole private golf course.
The land is environmentally significant due to its size, proximity to existing town and state open space, vast areas of wetlands and watercourses, and presence in a public water suppy watershed.
